Summary
Expense Tracker is a fully offline, local-only app. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. No internet connection is required or used by the app. All data you enter is stored exclusively on your device and is never sent anywhere.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The Application does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- No user account or registration is required.
- No data is sent to any server, cloud service, or third party.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs are included.
- No advertising identifiers or device identifiers are accessed.
- Your device’s IP address is never collected.
- Your financial data (transactions, accounts, budgets, goals) is never transmitted off your device.
- No cookies, pixels, or web tracking technologies are used.
2. Data Stored On Your Device
All data you create in the app — transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, goals, and currency preferences — is stored locally in a SQLite database file on your device. This data is:
- Accessible only to the Expense Tracker app.
- Never shared with any third party.
- Never uploaded to any cloud service.
- Removed when you uninstall the app (subject to your device’s OS behaviour).
3. Backup Export
The app provides an optional manual backup feature that copies your local database to a .sqlite file, which you can then share using your device’s share function.
- This export is entirely user-initiated. The app never exports or uploads data automatically.
- You are fully responsible for where you choose to send or store your backup file.
- Treat your backup file as sensitive financial data and only share it with trusted destinations.
- The Application does not have access to backups once they leave the device via the share sheet.
4. Android Auto Backup
Android Auto Backup is disabled for this application. Your app data is not automatically synced to Google Drive or any other cloud service by the operating system.
5. Exchange Rates
Currency exchange rates displayed in the app are static reference values built into the application at the time of release. They are indicative only and do not reflect live market rates. No external service or API is contacted to retrieve exchange rate data.
6. Third Parties
No tracking, analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or data-collecting SDKs are used. Open-source libraries used (SQLite via sqflite, share_plus, shared_preferences) process data on-device only. The only network-capable library included is share_plus, which is used exclusively to open your device’s native share sheet at your explicit request — it does not transmit any data on its own.
7. Children
This Application is not directed at children under the age of 13 (COPPA) or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (up to 16 under GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected at all, there is no children’s data to protect.
If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has used this app, you can be assured that no data has been collected.
8. Your Rights
Because no personal data is collected or processed by us, there is no personal data held by the developer to access, correct, delete, or port.
All your data is on your device. You can delete it at any time by:
- Deleting individual records within the app.
- Using the app’s built-in clear functions.
- Uninstalling the application.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact: progressapp@proton.me
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): Because no data is collected or sold, there is nothing to opt out of. Your rights under CCPA/CPRA are inherently satisfied.
EEA/UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR): No personal data is processed by the developer. No consent is required and no legitimate interest is claimed because no data processing occurs.
9. Security
Your data resides only on your device and is protected by your device’s built-in security mechanisms (screen lock, device encryption). We recommend:
- Keeping your device’s operating system and security patches up to date.
- Using a strong screen lock (PIN, fingerprint, or face recognition).
- Storing exported backup files in a secure location.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes materially (e.g., if a future version of the app introduces network features), the updated policy will be published in the app and the effective date will be updated. We will seek consent where required by law before any such change takes effect.
Previous versions of this policy are available on request at: progressapp@proton.me

6. Backup and Data Export
The Application provides an optional backup export feature. When you export a backup:
- You are solely responsible for the security of the exported file.
- The Service Provider has no access to or control over files once shared via your device’s share sheet.

- Nothing in these Terms limits your non-excludable statutory consumer protection rights.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Service Provider is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption arising from your use of the Application.
- The Service Provider retains liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
- Total liability is capped at the amount you paid for the Application in the 12 months preceding the claim. For a free app, the cap is the minimum permitted by applicable law.
- No liability is accepted for loss arising from reliance on inaccurate exchange rates or financial data displayed in the Application.
10. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Service Provider and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents against any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your intentional misuse of the Application.
This does not apply to claims arising from the Service Provider’s own negligence or wrongdoing, and is limited where consumer protection law restricts indemnification obligations.
11. Updates and Continuity
- The Application is currently free to use with no advertisements, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. If this changes, any charges will be clearly communicated in advance.
- The Service Provider may release updates to the Application. You may need to install updates to continue using certain features.
- The Service Provider does not guarantee that updates will be available for every operating system version.
- The Service Provider may stop supporting older OS versions or discontinue the Application at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.
- On termination or discontinuation, your licence ends and you should delete all copies of the Application from your devices.
12. Termination
The Service Provider may suspend or terminate your access to the Application if you materially breach these Terms, with written notice and (where the breach is capable of remedy) 14 days to remedy it.
Access may be suspended or terminated immediately, without notice, if you:
- Violate applicable law.
- Infringe intellectual property rights.
- Engage in activity that could harm other users or the Service Provider.
Upon termination, your right to use the Application ends immediately and you must delete all copies from your devices.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service Provider is established, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction apply.
Disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts under applicable law. Where available and required, you retain the right to seek resolution through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms.

16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Service Provider regarding your use of the Application and supersede all prior agreements or understandings.
17. Changes to These Terms
The Service Provider may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date in the Application. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
